Day 1

Sat, August 5

Arrival & Welcome

Arrive in the afternoon at the picturesque campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, the “Garden State”. Meet your peer mentors and start the day off with a welcome session from the Vice Provost of FDU and the Youth Assembly Chair. Familiarize yourself with the university through a fun Scavenger Hunt and explore the beautiful campus.

Day 2

Sun, August 6

SVSD Seminar & Group Project

The full day training class will be dedicated to understanding the nature of social entrepreneurship and analyzing several case studies. Guided by an FDU professor, participants will work with their pre-formed groups to develop a social venture project. Participants will be engaged through critical thinking, planning, and teamwork building. 

Participate in a group session with your assigned peer mentors to learn how they are transforming social venture ideas into real projects and receive guidance on how to improve your own.

End the day with a fun sport activity inspired by the Dizzy Goals Challenge aimed at raising awareness of the Global Goals.

Day 3

Mon, August 7

SVSD Field Trips

Visit one of the top 10 Fortune 500 companies such as Novartis, to learn more about how leading global innovators are working to implement the SDGs and contribute to global welfare. Participants will have the opportunity to be engaged in further discussions with senior level executives of the company.

Proceed to visit a local urban farm for a first look at how environmental change is being made in New Jersey. Your experience may include: an indoor vertical farm, a community garden, a green street system, or a rain garden. See first hand how these sustainable initiatives have already made an impact on their local community.

Share your field trip experience with your team members and peer mentors and discuss how those experiences can help you with your social venture project proposal or how you can take some of these ideas back to your local community.

Day 4

Tues, August 8

SVSD Project Presentations

Finish up your group’s project proposal in the morning and conclude the SVSD seminar with a social venture pitch presentation judged by FDU professors and Youth Assembly organizers. The top ideas will be awarded by FDU and featured in a recap video, which will be showcased during the Youth Assembly.

Get excited for one of the most famous cities in the world – New York City. Once you’ve arrived, check into a local university located in lower Manhattan in one of New York’s most dynamic areas.

Day 5

Wed, August 9

Youth Assembly Side Activities  & Official Opening Ceremony

Start the day off with a guided tour of the United Nations headquarters led by their staff. Feel the powerful influence of prestigious meeting venues such as the General Assembly Hall where high-level debates and meetings happen, and discover their work behind-the-scenes.

Proceed to the Permanent Mission Visit & Briefing and learn first hand the work of a UN Permanent Mission towards achieving the SDGs. Prepare for a Q&A with the Mission’s diplomats. 

Commence the Youth Assembly at the United Nations during its official opening ceremony together with over 1,000 youth from around the world. The opening ceremony will feature inspirational speeches by the Youth Assembly Chair, Ambassadors to the UN, UN high-level officials, and notable leaders from the public and private sectors.

Day 6

Thur, August 10


Attend panel and workshops sessions lead by UN officials or heads/representatives of non-governmental organizations, corporations, or local government. Join the conversation about the challenges the world is facing and identify opportunities and solutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by the General Assembly in September 2015. Engage with our potential partners, such as The Resolution Project and Ideas for Action, as well as campaigns or media initiatives.

In the evening, get a chance to attend the Opening Gala, an exclusive event which will be attended by invited speakers and guests from our partner organizations, United Nations, Permanent Missions, and many more.

Day 7

Fri, August 11


Continue with the final day of panel and workshop sessions. Don’t miss the last chance to connect with speakers, and participate in campaigns or media initiatives at the UN.

On Cruise Night, experience the most popular and memorable side event for participants to make life-time friends. Board the Hornblower Sensation, an amazing high-class New York yacht,  for a DJ dance party and networking while you sail past the illuminated New York City Skyline.

Day 8

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the conclusion of the Youth Assembly.  Celebrate the winners of the Outstanding Youth Delegate Awards and the Resolution Social Venture Challenge Awards. Get ready to be inspired by high level keynote speeches and enjoy a special musical performance.

During Culture Celebration, dress up in your traditional cultural outfit and participate in a variety showcase through music, arts, and traditional performances with fellow delegates from around the world. Impress your fellow delegates with a performance/talent from your home country.

Day 9

Sun, August 13

Volunteer Service & Departure

Put into action everything you have learned during the event by taking part in a meaningful volunteer experience in New York City. The activity may require a collaborative physical effort to help the city’s environmental and sustainable initiatives.

Don’t forget to explore the city’s iconic landmarks such as Times Square, the Empire State Building, and its museums before checking out. Take with you the meaningful experiences and memorable friendships you’ve earned along the way. Return home with the knowledge and drive to make global impact starting with your community!
