Youth Engagement Coordinator

We are looking for a professional-level candidate to coordinate and develop global youth outreach and delegate opportunities for the Youth Assembly at the United Nations. The position is on a project basis until February 28, 2017 with the possibility of being extended. The preferred candidate should have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and have at least 1 year of related work experience. 

Job Functions

  • Develop youth outreach strategies to grow and maintain a vibrant community of young leaders and professionals at the Youth Assembly
  • Seek and establish partnerships that provide exceptional opportunities for youth delegates to get more involved in social action and/or sustainable development initiatives
  • Form relationships with established youth organizations, academic institutions, and other related entities to bring delegation to the Youth Assembly at the United Nations
  • Maintain connection with youth delegates, especially on post-Youth Assembly work and collaborations
  • Explore new and unique ways to enrich the delegate experience using sound research and analysis
  • Work in coordination with all departments, most particularly with Communications staff 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Science, Behavioral Science, Education, Cultural Studies, or related field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience
  • A strong understanding of the organizational mission and the Youth Assembly at the United Nations, including knowledge of global current affairs and Sustainable Development Goals
  • Strong awareness of communication behaviors of youth from various cultural backgrounds
  • Proven ability to work closely with and relate to young audience
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills
  • Strong command of English language and exceptional writing skills for different media (i.e. social, web, print)
  • Experience in writing qualitative or quantitative reports/analyses
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Must have ability to work independently and within a team
  • Self-starter and creative thinker
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • International professional experience is highly preferred
  • Must be able to start immediately
