Program Summary

On February 1-3, 2017, the 19th session of the Youth Assembly brought together nearly 700 young people from 85 countries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to tackle global and contemporary issues with youth at the center of the discussions.

The conference focused on poverty, education, and sustainable consumption and production while highlighting the interdependence and universality of the Sustainable Development Goals. Discussions also included youth’s role in policy-making and the refugee crisis.

Through workshops, deliberations, and a social venture competition, the Youth Assembly delegates were equipped with practical skills, resources, and know-how to develop and implement fresh ideas that support the implementation of the SDGs.

The Youth Assembly at the United Nations was organized by Friendship Ambassadors Foundation with the lead endorsement of the Permanent Mission of Australia to the UN and the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the UN. The programme was held in partnership with UN Environment, ILO, UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring Report, SDSN, The Resolution Project, and many more.
